OCT 25: ONE NIGHT ONLY – a free staged reading of EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT, a new play by Jason Grasl (Blackfeet tribe) 7:30 pm, at the Wells Fargo Theater at the Autry National Center in Griffith Park.

OCT 25 – NOV 18: Cornerstone Theatre presents Sigrid Gilmer’s SEED, directed by Shishir Kurup. The play was created in partnership with community organizations that are tackling the hunger crisis in Los Angeles.

OCT 26 – NOV 18: Bonnie Hellman directs, and Roy Leake, Jr. music directs, Stephen Schwartz’ GODSPELL, JR. with new lyrics and with young performers. Eclectic Company  Theatre.

OCT 26 – DEC 2: J. Michael Ferniany wrote and directs WHO CAN STOP THE MOON? Meta Theatre in LA.

OCT 26 – DEC 15: Mark St. Amant directs Keith Huff’s THE DETECTIVE’S WIFE at the Historic Lankershim Arts Center, a Road Theatre Co west coast premiere.

THROUGH OCT 27: The Whitefire Theatre presents the world premiere of Andy Bloch’s The Bellflower Sessions directed by Bryan Rasmussen. (I directed the reading of this last year with Ray Abruzzo).

OCT 27 – NOV 18: Features new plays, visual arts, and community events, collaborators have created this platform for encouraging Black women to self-identify as dynamic, expressive, and nurturing contributors to society. BLACK WOMEN: STATE OF THE UNION – TAKING FLIGHT at the Skylight Theatre. Ayana Cahrr and Nataki Garrett direct the pieces.

THROUGH OCT 28: Rex Pickett’s SIDEWAYS THE PLAY at Ruskin Group in Santa Monica.

THROUGH OCT 28: John Steinbeck’s SWEET THURSDAY at Pacific Resident Theatre in Venice.

THROUGH OCT 28: “The Circle” Written by W. Somerset Maugham. Directed by Jules Aaron. “The Circle” captures the poise of high society in the 1920s with observations about the sexes and the nature of relationships that are as fresh and funny today as they were when Maugham was alive.

THROUGH OCT 28. Coeurage Theatre Co presents the West Coast premiere of Sean Graney’s hit play. Originally produced by The Hypocrites theatre company, The 4th Graders Present an Unnamed Love-Suicide received a transfer to New York after a wildly successful run in Chicago. A truly dark comedy, the play is literally the suicide note of a ten year old, which his classmates are forced to act out. Director Joe Calarco was a cast member of the original production.

THROUGH NOV 10: The new adaptation of Gilbert & Sullivan’s comic opera “Ruddigore” re-sets the action to Morro Bay, California in the late 1950s.

THROUGH NOV 10: Pulitzer winner Donald Margulies’ COLLECTED STORIES at the Odyssey Theatre, executive produced by three-time Academy Award nominee Diane Ladd, directed by Terri Hanauer.

DEC 13 – 23: Curt Hansen (Next to Normal and Hairspray) joins Charlene Tilton and the cast of A SNOW WHITE CHRISTMAS at the Pasadena Playhouse.

THROUGH DEC 20: After a critically acclaimed extended run (LA Weekly – PICK OF THE WEEK) at Beverly Hills Playhouse, A Child Left Behind now runs at Ruskin Group Theatre, in Santa Monica. When LAUSD teacher and playwright Alan Aymie was given his second pink slip from the school district that he had worked in for a decade, and later “graded” by the LA Times, he decided that it was time to provide a voice for the teaching professional.

MAR 12-13: A staged reading of Claire Willett’s DEAR GALILEO directed by Courtney Harper with Matthew Lillard for Hothouse at the Pasadena Playhouse  in the Carrie Hamilton Theatre.

MAR 16 – MAY 19: Geoff and Julia co-direct Sarah Ruhl’s EURYDICE at A Noise Within.

MAR 21 – APR 21: “Remembrance.” Written by Graham Reid. Directed by Tim Byron Owen. “Remembrance” charts the love that develops between a Protestant father and a Catholic mother who meet in the cemetery where their sons are buried, both victims of violence.

APR 6 – MAY 26: George Farquhar’s THE BEAUX STRATAGEM at A Noise Within.

APR 2013: In 2013, to celebrate the City of San Gabriel’s Centennial, the Mission Playhouse will present a fully‐staged version of The Mission Play. This work, set in California during the 1700’s, was first staged 100 years ago, ran for decades and drew millions of people to San Gabriel. More information

APR 15 & 21: Musical Theatre Guild presents A CATERED AFFAIR (Los Angeles premiere) at the Alex Theatre in Glendale on the 15th and the Scherr Forum in Thousand Oaks on the 21st.


MAY 16 – JUN 16:  “Opening Night.” West Coast Premiere. Written by Norm Foster. Directed by Bruce Gray. From the writer and director of this past season’s hit, “The Long Weekend.”

JUN 10 & 16: Musical Theatre Guild presents Gershwin’s GIRL CRAZY at the Alex Theatre in Glendale on the 10th and the Scherr Forum in Thousand Oaks on the 16th.
