SEPT 20: ONE NIGHT ONLY – a free staged reading of THE DAY WE WERE BORN, a new play by Jaisey Bates at the Wells Fargo Theater at The Autry National Center in Griffith Park.

SEP 20 – OCT 7: Michelle Kholos Brooks’ FAMILY PLANNING at The Co-op of Pacific Resident Theatre in Venice.

SEPT 20 – OCT 18: Thursdays only, THE LAUGH PACK. Bruce Fine hosts an all-star line-up of talent including comedy stars Cathy Ladman, Dennis Regan, 92-years-young Max Turell, vocalist Sonya Kahn, plus surprises. Buffet sponsor is Chipotle Mexican Grill.

SEP 20 – OCT 27: Josh Morrison directs LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS for Theatre Unleashed at Studio Stage.

SEP 21 – OCT 14: Kirsten Sanderson directs Mike Farrell in George Shea’s DR. KEELING’S CURVE at The Blank Theatre in Hollywood.

SEP 21 – OCT 27: A KIND OF LOVE STORY, written and directed by Jenelle Riley. The story of a man and woman perfect for each other, if only they could meet.

SEP 21 – OCT 28: Ken Sawyer directs Ira Levin’s DEATHTRAP at the LA Gay and Lesbian Center.

SEP 21 – NOV 25: Frédérique Michel directs Charles Mee’s ORESTES 3.0: INFERNO at City Garage, Building T1, Bergamot Station, Santa Monica.

SEP 22 – OCT 14: ALL THE KINGS MEN written by Robert Penn Warren. Based on his novel. Directed by Larry Novikoff.

SEP 22 – NOV 10: The new adaptation of Gilbert & Sullivan’s comic opera “Ruddigore” re-sets the action to Morro Bay, California in the late 1950s.

THROUGH SEP 23: Chalk Repertory Theatre announces a unique partnership with The Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits to present the second edition of its hit FLASH Festival of short plays. All plays must fit within the scientific parameters provided by Page Museum curators exploring such themes as evolution, archeology, and science education among others. Five plays will be presented per weekend.

THROUGH SEP 23: Irving Berlin’s I LOVE A PIANO at Plummer Auditorium in Fullerton. It moves to the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center SEP 28 – 30.

THROUGH SEP 23: A series of one act plays by female playwrights. SHE WRITES at Rose Theatre, 11246 Magnolia Boulevard in NoHo.

SEP 23: ONE DAY ONLY the Tap Chicks are seasoned tap dancers who dazzle with youthful energy. A favorite at the L.A. County Fair for many years, their previous performances at the Sierra Madre Playhouse have sold out.

SEP 23 – OCT 14: SCR presents Sarah Ruhl’s play EURYDICE. SCR’s production portrays the Underworld as a water-infused landscape, where Eurydice arrives with her memory washed away.

SEP 24 – ONE NIGHT ONLY! Ladies Arm Wrestling at the Bootleg. The brawl includes ladies from Bootleg, Ghost Road, Sacred Fools and others. Fun fundraiser.

SEPT 24 & SEPT 30: Musical Theatre Guild presents TITANIC at the Alex Theatre on the 24th and at Scherr Forum in Thousand Oaks on Sept 30.

SEP 26 – NOV 4: Ed Begley, Jr and Felicity Huffman in David Mamet’s NOVEMBER, directed by Scott Zigler, at the Mark Taper Forum.

SEPT 27 – OCT 28: “The Circle” Written by W. Somerset Maugham. Directed by Jules Aaron. “The Circle” captures the poise of high society in the 1920s with observations about the sexes and the nature of relationships that are as fresh and funny today as they were when Maugham was alive.

THROUGH SEP 27: Frank Minano directs FIDDLER ON THE ROOF at the Grove Theatre in Upland.

SEP 28-30: “Illuminated Manuscript: a hip-hop interpretation of The Epic of Gilgamesh.” October 6- October 28: “Flipzoids.” Written by Ralph B. Pena. Directed by Jon Lawrence Rivera. October 12- November 11: “Faith: Part I of A Mexican Trilogy.” World Premiere. October 25- November 18: “Empanada for a Dream.” West Coast Premiere. November 8- December 9: “Anna Lucasta.” December 6 and December 7 at 7:30pm: “La Virgen De Guadalupe, Dios Inantzin.” Adapted from “Nican Mopohua” by Evelina Fernandez.

SEP 28 – OCT 28: The world premiere of THE RED ROOM written by former WGA President Christopher Knopf and directed by NoHo Arts Center Artistic Director James J. Mellon.

OCT 12 – 31: Wicked Lit tackles three plays at Mountain View Mausoleum and Cemetery. M.R. James’ “Count Magnus”, F. Marion Crawford’s “The Dead Smile” and Johann Ludwig Tieck’s “Wake Not the Dead.” All three adaptations by Jonathan Josephson, Jeff Rack, and Paul Millet.

THROUGH October 28. Coeurage Theatre Co presents the West Coast premiere of Sean Graney’s hit play. Originally produced by The Hypocrites theatre company, The 4th Graders Present an Unnamed Love-Suicide received a transfer to New York after a wildly successful run in Chicago. A truly dark comedy, the play is literally the suicide note of a ten year old, which his classmates are forced to act out. Director Joe Calarco was a cast member of the original production.

MAR 21 – APR 21: “Remembrance.” Written by Graham Reid. Directed by Tim Byron Owen. “Remembrance” charts the love that develops between a Protestant father and a Catholic mother who meet in the cemetery where their sons are buried, both victims of violence.

APR 6 – MAY 26: George Farquhar’s THE BEAUX STRATAGEM at A Noise Within.

APR 2013: In 2013, to celebrate the City of San Gabriel’s Centennial, the Mission Playhouse will present a fully‐staged version of The Mission Play. This work, set in California during the 1700’s, was first staged 100 years ago, ran for decades and drew millions of people to San Gabriel. More information

APR 15 & 21: Musical Theatre Guild presents A CATERED AFFAIR (Los Angeles premiere) at the Alex Theatre in Glendale on the 15th and the Scherr Forum in Thousand Oaks on the 21st.


MAY 16 – JUN 16:  “Opening Night.” West Coast Premiere. Written by Norm Foster. Directed by Bruce Gray. From the writer and director of this past season’s hit, “The Long Weekend.”

JUN 10 & 16: Musical Theatre Guild presents Gershwin’s GIRL CRAZY at the Alex Theatre in Glendale on the 10th and the Scherr Forum in Thousand Oaks on the 16th.
