Acting schools for kids

January 5, 2011

I’ve seen Steve Levy lead kids on a baseball team and I’ve heard his jokes, so it’s easy to pass along this information on his behalf.

From the release: New for 2011 is a fourteen week class in improvisation for young actors run by actor and teacher Steve Bean (aka Steve Levy).
In a safe, supportive environment, young acting students learn to work together as an ensemble, while developing self-confidence and spontaneous creativity. Combining elements of Chicago’s legendary “The Second City” with Steve’s own rehearsal and performance techniques, this class is based on the course that Steve teaches at the college-level, and will be a fun, friendly, fast-paced course that culminates in an original Comedy Improv Show for families and friends of the students!  For students 5th grade and up. For more information and to register visit the Upstage website.

Another one offering kids classes is YADA (Youth Academy of Dramatic Arts). Details here.
