The musical “40 is the New 15” is back in NoHo

July 15, 2010

At 15 I wanted to be zit-free. Career? I had no idea.  But many teens know exactly what they want to become. “40 is the New 15” opens this weekend at the NoHo Arts Center in North Hollywood. It looks at ‘whatever became of so-and-so” – and how they stayed on track (or got derailed).

From the release: The musical, which explores the inevitable link between puberty and middle-age, features book and lyrics by Larry Todd Johnson, and music by Cindy O’Connor.

After last year’s successful workshop production received a 2010 GLAAD Media Award nomination for Outstanding Los Angeles Theatre, and was chosen by Stephen Schwartz to be featured in the 2010 Disney/ASCAP Musical Theatre Workshop, the Academy for New Musical Theatre is producing the first full-scale production of this new musical comedy.

The new production includes a 4-piece band, a clever set designed by Disney scenic artist Kevin Traxler, great costumes, five new songs, and an awesome cast of stars from the Los Angeles theatre scene.  (One of the cast members, Tod Macofsky, is featured below.)
