UPDATE: Coeurage Theatre nearly hits budget goal with pay-as-you-want

March 3, 2010

Managing Director Gedaly Guberek says Coeurage Theatre’s  first pay-as-you-want run proved successful. “Our closing weekend,” he says, “had 99 in attendance, bringing our total audience for the run [Head Over Heels] up to 207. Our average ticket price ended up at about $8 and we came very close to the budgeting goals I set. But more importantly, we’re not in the hole!”

We don’t often get such an inside look at a theatre’s finances. You compare the money Coeurage made to Center Theatre Group’s multi-million dollar budget, and it seems almost other worldly. Sixteen hundred bucks? Chump change for some . Life and death to others. (See John Perrin Flynn’s take on LAStageBlog.)

Now, Guberek says, it’s on to Don Juan in Hell, April 30 to May 16, at the NoHo London Music Hall. The experiment continues.
