Fountain Theatre extends The Ballad of Emmett Till

March 3, 2010

Why am I not surprised? I saw this play last weekend and, days later, it hasn’t released its grip on me. Sure, I can go about my business, but at least a few times every day since, my mind has gone back to it.

Its power, particularly in Emmett’s death scene, suggests the superfluousness of CGI. Avatar may by Hollywood’s latest Billion Dollar Baby, but The Ballad of Emmett Till likely will make you richer.

The show has been extended through April 25 at the Fountain Theatre, 5060 Fountain Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90029-1422  (323) 663-1525.
